Inspiring Travel Writing from Marie Cleland

Marie Cleland is a freelance travel journalist based in London. She specialises in Eastern Europe, though her travels take her across the globe. Born and raised in New Zealand, she completed a degree in Ancient Egyptian history and language before gaining a postgraduate degree in journalism.
Marie edited design and architecture magazines for several years before pursuing her passion for travel writing. She loves exploring off the beaten track and is particularly interested in traditional cultures. In recent years she has experienced life in Saxon villages in Transylvania, Karen villages in northern Thailand and the islands of Lake Titicaca in Peru.
Recent commissions have taken Marie to Slovenia, Lithuania, Romania, Portugal, France and Spain, with articles appearing in easyJet Traveller, CNN Traveller, Inspire, Ryanair magazine, Jetstar magazine, Wizzit! (Wizz Air inflight magazine) and b.there! (Brussels Airlines inflight magazine).
