Inspiring Travel Writing from James Wallman

James Wallman is a freelance journalist who specialises in travel, design, skiing and spas. His trips have taken him to design hotels in Milan and Mexico, and to ashrams in the Rann of Khutch and Rishikesh. An occasional post-war zone tourist, Kosovo, Belgrade and Montenegro are among favourite recent destinations.
He writes regularly for Wallpaper, the Sunday Times Travel Magazine, Conde Nast Traveller and The Times. His work also appears in the New York Magazine, The Guardian, the Evening Standard, The Independent, High Life and easyJet inflight magazine. He is London correspondent for Singapore-based Club21 and a spa columnist for Spa Secrets Magazine.
He has written a non-fiction tale about a betting scam in Kuala Lumpur that involved two divorcees and a camp gold-dealer called Mr Tom Gu. James escaped intact, though without the US$50,000 he'd been holding out for. It's in Further Travellers' Tales in Heaven and Hell (Eye Books; 2004).
Based in London, he edits the inflight magazine for Wizz Air while writing freelance about men's mascara, extreme spa-ing and destinations such as Chamonix, Amsterdam, Tenerife and Kashmir.

‘Come! Come with me... for a glass of wine, some pasta and to meet mi amici!’ That wasn’t quite what Frederico said – but it was what he meant. My tourist’s Italian couldn’t keep up with the rapid-fire delivery of his machine-gun Sicilian dialect....
