Inspiring Travel Writing from Gemma Pitcher

Gemma Pitcher spent her childhood with her nose buried in books with titles like Safari Adventure and Across the Dark Continent, prompting her to disappear to Africa at 17. She later returned to the UK to read English at Exeter University, and after a spell as a safari consultant moved back to East Africa to become a freelance travel writer.
After authoring two coffee table books 'Zanzibar Style' and 'Safari Living', she has gone on the road for Lonely Planet's guides in Mozambique, South Africa, Madagascar, Tanzania and Kenya, an experience which helped hone her talent for sleeping in ridiculous positions on absolutely any form of public transport.
