Inspiring Travel Writing from Cynny Sharp

Cynny Sharp
In 1996, aged forty-nine and divorced with two teenage children and a mortgage, Cynny Sharp took a midlife gap year backpacking solo on a shoestring through Nepal, South East Asia and Australasia. On the brink of her fiftieth birthday she was made redundant from the job she was to return to in UK. As the result of a meeting in New Zealand she joined a top London headhunting company on her return. In 2003 she set up her own research business, Sharpre:search.

Cynny Sharp has recently published her first travel book, 'In Search of a Sporran'. On the eve of her fiftieth birthday with two rucksacks, an umbrella and a spare pair of glasses, she travelled to the other side of the world. Her quest: to rescue her grandfather’s full Highland dress, ‘borrowed’ from her brother in 1975 by a visiting New Zealand sheep-shearer, during a wild party in Oxford. This is the account of her remarkable journey, and how it changed her life. Buy In Search of a Sporran
