Sarah Anderson

Writers bio:
Having spent several years travelling, Sarah Anderson went to university relatively late to read Chinese at SOAS. In 1979 she set up the Travel Bookshop in Kensington and moved the shop to its present location in Notting Hill in 1982 where it has flourished and is currently basking in the spin-off from the film Notting Hill. In 1990 Sarah sold a large part of her share in the shop leaving her time to write and paint. As well as writing travel articles and book reviews and continuing to be a consultant to the Travel Bookshop, she has had two books published: "Anderson's Travel Companion" (1995) (a reference book to travel books) and the "Virago Book of Spirituality" (1996) and is currently working on an autobiography and a combined guide and literary anthology to Notting Hill. In 1999 she was a judge for the Whitbread Biography prize, the Shiva Naipaul essay prize and the Thomas Cook Travel Book Award.
