A full-time freelance writer, David writes widely for newspapers and magazines. He covers all aspects of travel from green to business via family travel and likes emerging destinations. He rarely takes group press trips, looks for strong angles, regularly works with photographers and prefers to fly from Manchester.

David won the Best Guidebook award in the British Guild of Travel Writers Members' Awards 2007 for Bolivia: The Bradt Travel Guide. He was shortlisted for the England's Northwest Tourism Awards 2007 in the Travel Journalist of the Year competition; he won the 2006 French Travel Article of the Year for a story about truffle hunting in the Lot Valley; and he was shortlisted in the Latin American Travel Association Writer's Awards 2006 for his story about Bolivia's Jesuit Missions.
