Writers bio:
Daphne Beames is a freelance journalist, travel writer, historian and poet who lives in Cape Town and writes for publications such as Independent Newspapers, The Cape Argus, The Saturday Star and the Sunday Tribune. Writing is her passion and since November 2006 she has had forty-five articles published by travel supplements and on IOL Travel worldwide: describing trips to Austria, Brazil, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Monaco, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, the UK and the United States. A published photographer, her own photographs accompany the text. Her main emphasis is on bringing distant places to life and capturing the glamour, excitement and romance of the surroundings from personal experience. Her particular love is France and she is an expert in this field - having traversed every corner of the country to seek out its hidden depths and delights
A Graduate of the University of Cape Town, an Image Consultant, a lover of the Classics, an avid reader and with years of experience as a University Entrance tutor, she travels widely and is currently planning to publish an illustrated coffee-table book of far-away places for the 'Armchair Travel' market.
She is a lover of adventure and believes in integrity, excellence, magic and the beauty of life.
