The Waldorf Towers by Matthew Barker

Manhattan glamour-puss that takes up 16 floors of the Waldorf Astoria, pitching itself as a boutique-take on its uber-deluxe Grand Dame matriarch. The rooms are all individually designed, but we're not in Schrader territory here: there’s a stately clutter throughout, and the Presidential Suite has played host to every White House incumbent since Henry Hoover. 43 rooms (72 suites). Member of The Leading Hotels of the World.

Hotel Attractions: The renovated Peacock Alley restaurant has a Gascon/Basque menu; Oscars casts its nets further across the globe; the Bull and Bear more of a steaks and seafood place; sushi at Inagiku. Plus One Fitness Center (part of the Astoria, but available to residents of the Towers) specialises in aromatherapy treatments, Swedish and shiatsu massages and reflexology.

Local Attractions: East Midtown: the Rockefeller Center is just around the corner; the Theatre District - The Great White Way -
