The Terrass by The TI Review Team

A mite impersonal for the most personable village of Montmartre, but that’s only to be expected in a hotel with 7 floors and 100 rooms. Nevertheless, the Terrass strives hard to soften its corporate edges. Tapestries and bronzes lend a rather club-like atmosphere to the lobby and piano-bar; trompe l’oeil elevator doors add a little whimsy. Downstairs on the ground floor, the Diapason restaurant boasts a keen young chef. In summer, you can eat out on the 7th floor Terrasse restaurant; views are to die for.

The rooms
Standard rooms are attractively furnished in sunny shades of peach and primrose. Suites strike a more contemporary note, with subtle contrasts of colour, and large, carefully selected pictures. Ultimately, though, it won’t be the décor but the exceptional views that will win you over. From front-facing lower floors, look out onto the greenery of Montmartre’s celebrity-studded cemetery (if you’re lucky, you might just pick out the life-size effigy of iconic chanteuse icon, Dalida.) Plump for a suite with walk-on balcony, and the city – bar its silvery basilica – is your oyster.
