Melia Colbert by Jamie Dunford Wood

Great position on the left bank by the river for this Spanish-run chain ‘boutique’ hotel (their description, not ours), it is nevertheless somewhat overpriced at rack-rates, catering mostly for discounted corporate guests. The theme is the same as at the other Melia hotels – smart, warm fabrics, plushly done to an interior design template. Striped fabric walls, good repro furnishings and, in this case, small bathrooms and a warren of corridors, as this is a conversion of an historic townhouse mansion. They claim views of Notre Dame from some of the rooms – glimpses would be more accurate, and at a price. But a good solid place to satisfy business clients if you can get a deal.
