Le Lavoisier by The TI Review Team

TI reviewer Amanda Mackenzie:
This 30-room hotel Le Lavoisier occupies a prime spot between those bustling shopping haunts, the Grands Magasins and the Place de la Madeleine. Once inside, however, the throng is quickly forgotten. The lobby might be a study in calm. Handsome old portraits hang from muted walls, fresh flowers add calculated elegance and the original wrought iron staircase is a gracious affair. Behind the reception, a gentlemanly library, with leather sofa and an honesty bar for nightcaps, promises more of the same. The vaulted breakfast room is warm in marmalade tones, with period paintings adding interest.

Rooms, all Wifi accessible, are pleasantly furnished with understated prints in accents of raspberry and café-au-lait, to which the odd brocante piece adds individuality. Superiors aren’t overly large, which adds to the temptation of splashing out on a junior suite, some of which have a jacuzzi bath. Double-glazed, of course, all rooms are relatively quiet, benefiting from the hotel’s location on a sleepy side-street in Paris.
