Hotel Zum Ritter St Georg by Jamie Dunford Wood

Historic mainsteet inn in charming Heidelberg dating from 16thC. Typically germanic modernisation has taken some of the character from the guestrooms, but downstairs the historic atmosphere has been preserved in the stube style restaurant, a magnet for local society, and hallways and corridors throughout the hotel are painted and frescoed in traditional fashion. Decor upstairs is simple and modern, with modern parquet flooring, flower and architectural prints on the walls, and tiled bathrooms with old fashioned fittings. Most rooms, especially those facing the square, are of a good size with high ceilings - ask for ones with double windows onto the square and liitle bays.
