Hotel Scribe by Jamie Dunford Wood

Rather bizarrely decorated hotel - all praise to Sofitel - which feels a bit like a grand brothel downstairs, which may be appropriate given its history as the wartime headquarters of the allies in Paris. Marble paint-effect plaster columns and garish red and yellow swagged curtains downstairs, and sponged doors opening onto the 200+ guest bedrooms. Each floor has a different colour scheme - 1st and 2nd in red, 3 and 4 in green, 5 and 6 in blue. Once inside the rooms, however (from the very cramped corridors) the tone is bright, cheerful and clean, mitigating against the Parisian lack of space. Small bathrooms. Great position just across from the Opera Garnier.
