Hotel Gatto Bianco by Jamie Dunford Wood

Charming and relatively inexpensive option in expensive Capri, the Gatto Bianco is cool, quiet and very central. The 44 rooms are light, with well chosen fabrics and tiled floors. Some rooms have limited views, but are smaller, probably not worth it. This (the lack of views) and the absence of a pool, are the main drawbacks, though they have a terrace for sunbathing, and the large public areas, with their white cat sculptures, and floral tiled floors, make it immediately appealing. Old maps adorn some of the ceilings. For a family, too, they have a wonderful spacious two room ‘senior suite’, with a lounge, two bathrooms and large flower-bedecked terrace. For a double, ask for the one at the back of the building with a sitting area.
