Hotel Ariston by Jamie Dunford Wood

This unattractive modern block on a busy, messy road south of the Duomo has re-invented itself as an ‘ecological’ hotel, restored using natural building materials and fabrics, and non-toxic paints and glues. So far we have not been asphyxiated by Four Seasons carpet glue, but there’s always that remote possibility. Most rooms have showers only, so being kind on water consumption. They clearly had to do something different to attract guests.
