Grand Hotel Malher by Jamie Dunford Wood

This recent find in the Marais is a welcome one - options around this budget are severely limited, at least hotels you would want to stay in. The welcome at the Malher is friendly and the rooms light and airy, many with two windows, with pretty décor. The best rooms look onto the courtyard on the inside, because streetside can be noisy. Bathrooms are basic, but are redeemed by good showers. This is a family run hotel, over three generations, and it shows. It features in the Good Hotel Guide of 2005, which led us here. It has 31 rooms - no a/c, but good rates.
