Five Sumner Place by Kevin Kalhoefer
Located in South Kensington, Five Sumner Place is a cozy little bed and breakfast establishment. Appearance-wise, it does not stand out from its smart residential neighbours, except for its open door and the chandelier in the hallway. But don’t be fooled—despite the décor in the entrance and its location in Kensington, Five Sumner Place avoids any manner of extravagance.
The building, which dates back to 1848, maintains much of its Victorian townhouse charm and conveys a comfortable atmosphere, a sort of home away from home. The colors of the interior are understated, most light yellows and whites, and occasional shades of turquoise create a relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast is served for in a greenhouse-like shed with lots of greenery on the outside. With its modest décor, plants in the interior and exterior and in the paintings hung on the wall, along with its small townhouse feel, Five Sumner Place is an ideal bed and breakfast for those looking to relax and get away from the city for a while.
