Dar Adul by Joanna Monkhouse

Dar Adul is a pretty guesthouse in what was once a lawyer’s house. The French owners are resident for most of the year. The 4 rooms (one is a suite) have been nicely decorated, with some well chosen antiques, and the atmosphere is clean and fresh, although, like many places in Essaouira, there was some mildew on the walls because of the dampness in the medina. The salon feels a little crowded but the terrace, which is up a steep staircase, has a wonderful sea view. This is a good choice for those looking to hire a whole riad.
