Ca’ Del Borgo by Jamie Dunford Wood

Wonderfully atmospheric Venetian noble residence in an extremely tranquil part of the Lido, the Ca’ del Borgo has large bright rooms of classic proportions and fine period furnishings. The rooms all lead off wide, spacious, furnished landings, and there’s a large and comfortable sitting room on the ground floor, plus a large garden at the back. Quiet canal views and the quaint locality lend a rare sense of being in the real Venice, free from tourists. However, the drawback for some will be its inaccessibility – unless you hire a boat from the local pier you will need to take a bus to the main Lido town before boarding the vaporetto to San Marco. Better still, bring a car, or hire one at the airport, then you have the freedom to drive to the Excelsior for drinks or a swim. Bound to become a favourite for film stars in the know during festival time, the Ca’ del Borgo, with only ten rooms, is ideally suited to hiring in toto.
