It’s said that owner and conceiver Sol Kirzner (he of Sun City fame), spent $1bn on the creation of this luxury-resort-with-a-difference. For once, you can see where the money went: on fifteen eateries, the Caribbean’s biggest casino, several monstrous aquariums, at least five swimming pools, assorted waterslides, a private beach, ten bars, two flyovers, and a breakfast buffet the size of Cheshire. Other attractions include manta rays that circle the restaurant terrace, a list of celebrity guests that includes Wacko Jacko, Michael Jordan, and the entire cast of Friends. And when you are bored of gambling away your mortgage while watching the sting-rays menace your mother-in-law, well then the hotel will fly you to a nearby island to do some of the best sports fishing in the world. As they say in Manhattan: what’s not to love?
