Across the road from Le Sirenuse, and sharing the spectular view of the village and bay of Positano, Villa Rosa’s sunny lobby creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere at this small pensione. The bright yellow of the sofas there is echoed in the tiled floor of the downstairs corridor that leads to the clean, pretty rooms. Some of the twelve rooms in this 150 year old villa still feature original tiles and vaulted ceilings. Decorated with well-chosen antiques, they have a pleasing, monastic simplicity. The bathrooms are tiled with the prevalent local blue and yellow Vietri tiles and have either baths or showers. All rooms have air conditioning and satellite televisions along with minibars, telephones and safes. There are no public rooms at Villa Rosa save the lobby, so breakfast is served in the rooms and on the flower covered terraces. Located a flight of steps up the cliff, the building is covered with vines and bougainvillea. Villa Rosa offers notable value in one of Italy’s most expensive villages.
