Canoe the Sea of Cortez by Mark Jolly
Baja, Mexico: The remote corridor between La Paz and Loreto is just about the only place off the coast of California - either America or Mexico - where you can cruise 80-something miles and not see a soul. Just a sprinkling of palapa shacks, a few lone fishing skiffs, and a bluefin whale were our only interlopers during three days at sea.
Experience Complete Seclusion by Andrew Ferree
Sail around the southern archipelago, and seek out your own private island for complete seclusion. Sit on a rock to enjoy a breathtaking sunset accompanied with a picnic of freshly caught clayfish and elderflower cider. The perfect evening.
Sail in the Southern Ocean by Tom Kay
The equivalent of a maritime Sahara, you feel the insignificance of man when faced by the awe-inspiring forces of nature. Periods of calm and beauty are viewed with suspicion, as more than likely they are soon to be followed by equally beautiful episodes of violence and chaos. When you’re through the other side, however, walking along a warm, cafe-covered street, feet once more on terra firma, you’ll smile at yourself and really feel as if you have seen all that nature can throw your way.
Feel the Coriolis Effect by Rob Penn
Sail across the Pacific: To experience the Coriolis effect of the planet and to feel truly miniscule. Another ocean might suffice but the Pacific has the most exotic selection of islands to complement the experience.
Sail the Atlantic by Martin O’Brien
Sometimes it's the journey that counts, not the destination. Which is why I'd like to sail the Atlantic. Nothing single-handed you understand. I can tie a bowline, hold a course and I don't get seasick, but apart from cruise ships I've never been out of sight of land. I'd need an agreeable skipper to show me the ropes, a good sound system and a couple of old friends to share the adventure.
Fish for Marlin by Martin O'Brien
Lizard Island, Australia. I've scuba-dived off most of the world's major reefs but I'm still waiting to feed the potato cod off Lizard Island on the Northern edge of Australia's Great Barrier Reef. And when I'm not diving I could follow Lee Marvin's example and fish for marlin.
Travel from Norway to Scotland by Boat by Joe Cummings
Norway to Scotland by boat. As soon as I heard this was a possibility, I wanted to climb aboard.
