Emerging from the Victorian Registry Office, radiant couples pause on the steps of the Historic Treasury Building as photographers snap away. As I watch these happy scenes of smiles and laughter play out in the Melbourne sunshine, the hidden wedding planner that lurks in every woman emerges as I realize a geographical coincidence for these happy newlyweds.<> These couples need not jump in a taxi, a waiting car or even head to the airport to start their honeymoon. They need merely leave the Treasury building steps and stroll to their left down Macarthur Street less than 200 metres to St Andrews Place, pass under the leafy shade of ancient Elms edging Parliament Place and finally turn right into the majestic wide boulevard entrance of Melbourne¡¦s luxurious Park Hyatt Hotel.<> 5 Stars and 5 years young, the Park Hyatt is not only a convenient stroll from the registry office on Spring Street but is situated in the lush and picturesque surrounds of both the Fitzroy and Treasury Gardens.<> Boasting large and spacious accommodation in warm earthy tones, the interiors are finished with madrona burl wood paneling and original art works throughout.<> The rooms and suites feature walk-in robes, Italian marble adorned bathrooms with double glass vanity¡¦s, oversized baths and finished with plush towels and robes. The luxurious touches continue into the bedroom with king sized beds dressed with fine Egyptian cotton linens, sinkable European pillows and heavenly light feather doona¡¦s.<> As difficult as it will be to drag your self away from these luxurious surrounds, the hotel offers other features to tempt guests, particularly in the culinary department.<> Starting with the Trilogy Bistro, the bistro serves daily a buffet and a la carte breakfast, featuring an enticing array of fresh fruit, cereals, breads and muffins, and my personal favourite, fresh honey straight off the honeycomb. The buffet also offers some surprising treats including mouth watering St Andre Triple Crème brie and French Emmenthal cheese.<> The adjoining Trilogy Garden beacons guests to enjoy al fresco dining amongst the boxed hedged garden terrace. An ideal location to enjoy a tall drink or a light snack from the neighboring Tea Lounge.<> The Tea Lounge, just off the elegant lobby, offers a light dining menu throughout the day, pre-dinner drinks in the evening, and traditional High Tea every afternoon.<> For evening dining, the RadII Restaurant and Bar with its unique multi-level design offers a wide choice of modern Australian cuisine.<> Whether it¡¦s with a glass of energizing blend of carrot, apple and ginger juice in the Trilogy Bistro or an ice-tea amongst the water features of the Trilogy Terrace, a review of the day spa menu is guaranteed to tempt you to head to the Health Club and Day Spa on the 9th floor.<> The Park Club Health Club and Day Spa provides a range of facilities for guests to either workout, relax or rejuvenate. For the active minded, there is a fully equipped training studio, outdoor tennis court and 25 metre lap pool. If a more laid back approach is desired, the wet areas include spa and plunge pool, steam and sauna rooms, while outside the sundeck offers a peaceful retreat. However if it is rejuvenation that is desired, the day spa provides a choice of treatments to scrub, soak and sooth your cares away.<> The signature treatment, the serenely sounding ¡§Aqua Fresh¡¨ combines a full body exfoliation with a Vichy shower massage and hydrotherapy bath. Using the Aveda range of spa products, the hydrotherapy bath is treated with skin softening blend of Caribbean mango, lime and aloe for the ¡§Rejuvenate¡¨ bath. The treatment concludes with a blissfully relaxing moisturizing foot, hand and body massage.<> While I am assured by staff that my suggested convenient, yet slightly unconventional arrival of a bride and groom has yet to take place, with no one yet to stroll to the hotel from the Registry Office ¡V you¡¦ve got to admit, with what awaits at the Park Hyatt, it sounds tempting!<>
