The Carlton opened in 1904, an elegant and ornate homage to old New York. Today the hotel has been thoroughly modernised, with plushly modern interiors and attentive staff. It is conveniently located in Midtown, within walking distance of the Empire State building, Penn Station, Madison Square Garden, the Flatiron district and Grand Central Station.

The restaurant is a polished seafood brasserie that's won a loyal crowd of admirers throughout the city. The hotel also boasts a fitness centre and a choice of seven meeting/function rooms.

Each of The Carlton's 317 guestrooms shares the same luxe-contemporary style as its communal areas. Thick carpets, distressed mirrored furnishings, oversized leather headboards and dark walnut trimmings abound. All rooms have LCD flatscreen televisions, iPod docking stations, marble bathrooms with Molton Brown toiletries and pillow top mattresses as standard.
