Amangani (meaning "peaceful home") lies in Wyoming's heartland. Nearly 7,000ft above sea level, it makes for a peaceful retreat, overlooking meadows, grazing land and the Teton Range of the Rocky Mountains. Calm and sophisticated, this Aman sibling makes excellent use of local building materials: Oklahoma sandstone, Pacific redwood, Douglas fir and cedar abound.

The facilities

The Grill serves up a hearty American fare for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Make like a (very refined) cowboy and chow down on steaks, chops and seafood, as well plentiful locally-sourced organic options. The restaurant has a cosy wood-burning fireplace and spectacular views of the Rockies.

An on-site health centre boasts a gym, two exercise studios, four treatment rooms and separate steam rooms for men and women. A variety of one-on-one programmes are offered in the exercise salon, including aerobics, restorative yoga and meditation. Amangani also offers a range of massages and facials, mud, salt and seaweed body treatments, as well as deep-conditioning hair treatments. Amangani's outdoor swimming pool is a real oasis, heated all year round and with its own whirlpool attached.

The rooms

Amangani's 40 luxury suites are redwood-heavy, with clear-heart redwood floors and king-size redwood bed frames. Wild West-inspired furnishings include black resin-and-terrazzo dining tables, woven cowhide chairs in faux wolf fabric and a pine-stump table. The absolute best bit is the private deck views of the snow-capped Rockies; also to be enjoyed from the deep soaking tubs in the bathrooms.
