The Master Builder's is a boutique-style hotel that dates back to the 18th-century. It sits on Lord Montagu's estate in a peaceful corner of Hampshire, on the banks of the Beaulieu River. The hotel is ideally placed for sailing and other water-based activities, while the New Forest provides the ideal spot for mountain biking, walking, horse-riding and fishing.

The facilities

The star of the show is undoubtedly the restaurant, which serves Modern British cuisine, with a focus on local produce. It's very popular with locals as well as guests, particularly the all-day bbqs held in the summertime. The lounge area is stuffed to the gills with books and magazines; the perfect place to while away a few quiet hours.

The rooms

Each of The Master Builder's 25 guestrooms is decorated in a sumptuous, Rajasthani style. Think darkwood furnishings, luscious fabrics and light, bright walls to set it all off. All are individually appointed and named after famous ships (the area has a strong navel history). They each come with flat-screen televisions, bespoke furnishings and a nightly turndown service.
