The food-themed George Hotel overlooks the market square in pretty Cotswolds village Shipton-on-Stour. The facilities

Food at The George is simple and seasonal, with great green credentials. Chicken, local eggs and Warwickshire pork is free range, beef comes from Herefordshire and vegetables are always British and in season. Take lunch from the light menu at the bar, and tuck in at the main restaurant at dinnertime.

The rooms

16 rooms are named after foodstuffs - and in case you forget, headboards are printed with a picture of your room's namesake. Other goodies include Molton Brown toiletries, flat screen TVs, CD/DVD players and iPod docks.
