The luxury hotel Spa is great for stressed-out travellers in need of a bit of TLC. There is a huge selection of E'SPA treatments available for women and men, including facials, massage, body wraps and ice rubs for the brave. The spa has an indoor swimming pool, sauna and crystal steam room too.

If you want to get a bit more active, head to the luxury hotel's Club building, which has tennis courts, two indoor swimming pools plus outdoor hot pool, a gym and cycle hire. You could also try your hand at some Scottish country pursuits: shooting, riding, falconry and gundog running will help you find your inner Squire (though the thoroughly-modern 4x4 offroad track might make you forget him!).

Gleneagles is near three famous championship golf courses (King's, Queen's and the PGA Centenary), so choose this luxury hotel if you want to play where the stars are. The PGA Centenary golf course will host the Ryder Cup in 2014.

The Press Say

"Gleneagles is a sprawling, swanky monster of a hotel. An imposing grey-stone building surrounded by rolling hills and glens…despite the world-class golf courses, whisky and cashmere shops and hushed restaurants, it's incredibly, genuinely, child-friendly." The Independent 07
