"The elegant and handsome luxury hotel has contemporary interiors, superior facilities and a prime location in the heart of Belgravia."
Hotel Overview
Review of Jumeirah Lowndes, by Nadia Latif
Jumeirah Lowndes is located in a tranquil corner of Knightsbridge, full of dinky fashion boutiques and a thriving organic cafe culture. Only a short stroll from the flurry of activity on Sloane Square and just minutes away from Harrods, Hamley's and Hyde Park Corner, the area feels as leafy and laid-back as the northern suburbs. This is Yummy Mummy territory; serene, polished and inoffensive. Very much like the Jumeirah Lowndes itself.
The lobby sets the tone for the whole of Jumeirah Lowndes. Cream and gold abound, with just about every surface made of marble. There are plenty of staff on hand at the front desk, who serve the steady mix of corporate and leisure clientele very competently. The lobby leads straight to Mimosa Bar and Restaurant, a modern European venture that's popular with locals. There's also a chic al fresco terrace for summer dining.
Guests at The Jumeirah Lowndes enjoy complimentary access to the large-scale amenities of sister property Jumeirah Carlton Tower , which is just around the corner. The Carlton Tower's wellness centre, Peak Club, includes a gym, swimming pool, fitness classes and a sumptuous spa.
The hotel has just under 90 rooms spanning 6 floors. The bedrooms themselves are quiet and unassuming, taking on the same muted palette as the communal areas. They come equipped with flat screen televisions, iPod docks and espresso machines, and all have 24-hour room service. The Executive Suites boast separate living areas and dressing rooms, and all benefit from nicely sized bathrooms (most have baths and showers) and designer toiletries by Temple Spa.
Jumeirah Lowndes is entirely appropriate for its location - it is a good business choice, but is warm enough to appeal to leisure clientele too. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Knightsbridge and Kensington, it makes a great base to explore the busier areas of the capital.
