myhotel Chelsea 4 Stars
myhotel Bloomsbury’s newer sister is a refined and elegant hideaway in posh Chelsea surroundings
The Press Say
"This small, chic hotel tucked away down a Chelsea side street is a charmer. Rooms are bijou small, but sophisticated, with mauve satin throws atop crisp white down comforters. Tiny bathrooms are made cheery with pale pink granite countertops...The beauty is in the details here -- there's no restaurant, but the fire-warmed bar serves light meals and tea." Review of myhotel Chelsea, by Angela Moore
Sister to myhotel Bloomsbury and the second hotel in the group. myhotel Chelsea manages not to be the chichi boutique you might expect. It is a rather pleasant and eclectic mix of styles: a bit of English countryside, a hint of the East, a touch of fresh seaside chic.
The facilities
The reception of this design hotel mixes the homey with the chic: swirly purple rug, fat candles, fishtank, white-painted wooden walls. The cafe-restaurant has squishy leather sofas and is something of a watering hole for a low-key Brompton Cross crowd. A recent revamp has embellished it with glamorous wallpaper and a cool bar. The best feature is the guests-only library-a large, square, light-filled conservatory room. Elegantly battered sofas importune guests to spend long afternoons reading the papers. You can make yourself a cup of coffee or tuck into complimentary fruit. Or, hit the mini-gym and book a treatment in the Jinja spa therapy centre.
The rooms
The 45 rooms at myhotel Chelsea are unexpectedly spacious. There's lots of pink - dusky, rosy walls with poppy toile de Jouy-inspired shot-silk curtains, even pink bedspreads-all very fresh and pretty, without being too girlie. Doubles are almost as big as suites, and a good deal cheaper; but consider splurging on the Thai Suite, with a beautiful handmade bed, wooden floors, and a walk-in wardrobe, as well as a compact kitchenette, a jacuzzi bathroom and a steam room. Walls are textured and hard corners are cleverly softened (myhotel Chelsea quietly abides by the principles of Feng Shui).
