Ardanaiseig Hotel was built in the Scottish Baronial manner for Colonel Archibald Campbell of Clan Campbell in 1834. It was designed by William Burn and is listed for its architectural importance. Burn's other work includes Bowhill for the Duke of Buccleuch and a number of Edinburgh's finest 19th century buildings.

The facilities

The house itself is grand and impressive, with turrets and crenellations galore, but inside the colors and furnishings range from ancient to modern.  One of the great gardens of the world, the grounds are extensive and rugged, with dense woods and extensive trails. Boats can be hired to explore the loch and its many islands, including one owned by the hotel. The award-winning restaurant shrugs off the poor reputation for Scottish cuisine, serving an imaginivte and delicious five-course menu nightly.

The rooms

Individually designed with large, comfortable beds and antiques abound. Most have astounding views and large en-suite bathrooms. You can stay in the boatshed or separate cottage for a touch of private romance.
