Quebecs is a seriously stylish, traditional boutique hotel right in the heart of Leeds, a couple of streets away from the city's financial district. Built during Leeds' Victorian heyday as the Leeds and County Liberal Club, this Grade II-listed building once resonated to raucous political debate. Nowadays, it is a home-from-home for the many well-heeled bankers and lawyers that have made this vibrant Yorkshire city one of the richest in Britain.

Breakfast at Quebecs is cooked to order and served in the Conservatory which looks out over the Leeds skyline. The grand, wood-panelled lounge, The Oak Room, has an open fire, honesty bar, daily newspapers and guidebooks on Leeds. A butler is also always on call. and open fire, butler call, guides on Leeds. Quebecs has no restaurant, but guests can dine at Sous Le Nez just below the boutique hotel and charge their dinner to their room bill.

Quebecs' 45 rooms are spacious and old-school with silk wallpapers, antique prints, walnut cabinetry and mood lighting. Deluxe and Executive rooms and the Suites have marble bathrooms, and L'Occitane toiletries, steamless mirrors, power showers and baths come as standard in all rooms. An ironing board, trouser press and complimentary shoe shine ensures that business executives will always look their best before meetings. Personalised business cards are also printed for all guests.

Rooms on the second floor are best as they sport double-height ceilings and two huge windows. Room 205 has a balcony and is the only smoking room in the boutique hotel. Jars of Dolly Mixtures in all rooms are a quirky nod to the Yorkshireman's love of traditional British sweets, a theme that continues in the boutique hotel's Suites which are named Humbug, Liquorice, Sherbert, Peppermint, Bonbon and Butterscotch.
