The Sharrow Bay Hotel was Britain's first ever country house hotel, situated on the shores of Ullswater in the Lake District. This is the perfect retreat for outdoor activities, with the hotel nestled in acres of private gardens, majestic woodlands and next to the stunning Cumbria fells.
Ullswater itself is the second largest lake in the Lake District making it a popular site for sailing, rowing and diving. Other nearby attractions include: 'Aira Force' a spectacular natural waterfall and the 'Lyulph's Tower' a former shooting box of the Duke of Norfolk. If guests plan a relaxing holiday they need go no further than the Sharrow Bay gardens. Situated beneath Barton Fell, and half a mile from the lake-front, these gardens offer a secluded shoreside shelter framed by yew hedges and ornamental gardens; perfect for a calming afternoon stroll.
