Dalhousie Castle 4 Stars

"A traditional castle hotel on the outskirts of Edinburgh, Dalhousie sits in acres of rolling parkland on the banks of the River Esk."

Hotel Overview

Dalhousie Castle dates back to the 13th-century, and is the place to head for a traditional Scottish castle experience. Located just outside Edinburgh, on the banks of the River Esk, it is set in acres of rolling parkland; the perfect country retreat.

The facilities

There's a choice of two restaurants here. The Dungeon Restaurant is pretty special, housed in the vaulted castle dungeons, it serves classic French cuisine with a Scottish twist. For more informal dining, head to the light, airy Orangery for contemporary European fare. There's a good spa on site which offers myriad treatments from massage to manicures, plus a cosy library/lounge area for evening drinks. There's even a Falconry in the grounds (well worth a visit).

Each of Dalhousie Castle's 36 guestrooms is traditionally and comfortably appointed, in keeping with it communal areas. Period furnishings, rugs and wall-hangings lend an authentic feel - take our advice and opt for a Themed Room (the better ones have four posters) to really get a sense of the history of the place.
