"Karim Rashid designed this feng-shui boutique hotel on Brighton's Jubilee Street, fusing sexy interiors with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere."
Hotel Overview
Review of myhotel Brighton, by Nadia Latif
The ever-growing myhotel family has no black sheep. They are something like the Jonathan Ross clan; each is celebrated for its own special quirkiness, and the more they grow, the trendier they become. Take myhotel Brighton - it has an effortlessly cool location in North Laine, is designed by New York style maven Karim Rashid and boasts a 'Freddie Mercury meets the Maharishi' concept - if a hotel was created solely for young urbanites, then surely this must be it.
Inside, everything is clean and crisp, with lots of white. It's reminiscent of some Miami boutique hotels - very Zen, quite minimalist. Like the other myhotels, the principles of feng shui have played a big part in the design - expect crystals catching the light on every conceivable surface and not a sharp edge in sight - everything in rounded and smooth.
The Chilli Pickle Restaurant’s menu samples India’s many regions and cuisines, offering authenticity that doesn't eliminate individuality. The Chilli Pickle was awarded top gong at The British Curry Awards 2010 for most innovative restaurant, and was listed in the 50 Best UK Curry Houses in the Independent. It also won a Michelin BiB Gourmand award and 2 AA rosettes in 2011. Merkaba bar is very cool, and has established itself as something of a hotspot on the Brighton cocktail scene.
The 80 bedrooms are light, bright and airy. They have the same minimalist edge as the communal areas, and all have flat-screen televisions, iPod docking stations and complimentary WIFI. The grandest of the lot is of course the Penthouse Suite, which comes complete with a 300-year-old carousel horse.

Children
this hotel generally caters for couples and singles. However, children are welcome. Cots and extra beds can be provided, but only one is allowed per room. No Kids' Club or children's menu, but children are welcome in the restaurant.
Eating in
Accessible, informal and great value; TABLE offers relaxed all-day dining, with a mix of classic and modern favourites. Focused on using local seasonal produce with an emphasis on seafood and grills, using fresh fish from South Coast day boat fishermen.
The Press Say
"The hotel is highly trendy: fantastic rooms with curvy, bright-white walls that made me imagine I was in a space-age cave. There was an oval window in one of the curves, looking through into a shower room with a Brighton-rock pink floor. In a circular hole in another wall near a flat-screen TV, a crystal the size of a cricket ball had been placed." The Times 08
Reviews
Review of myhotel Brighton, by Jo Hathaway
myhotel Brighton is part of the myhotels group, which specialises in distinctive, exclusive and witty boutique hotels that reflect back the inspirations and character of their locale. With a design concept based on balance, myhotel Brighton contrasts the weekend-away sauce and fun of Brighton's pier with the creative and spiritual dynamism of the Peter Pan residents. Or, as they conceive it, Freddie Mercury meets the Maharishi.
The hotel knows its own home, too - its recommendations for local restaurants, bars and cafes are right on the money, unpretentious and varied. The special offers complement Brighton's character perfectly, and include themed weekend deals such as: myromance, mysaucy and mydecadent. They also offer preferential rates for 'Pride in Brighton'.
Downstairs, beyond the portal hub of reception, sits one of the special treats - the contoured, windowless cocoon of the Merkaba cocktail bar, with its tropical fishtanks, bank of screens transmitting films of the deepest seas and changing patterns and pump-to-your-height bar stools. A submariner's futuristic paradise in wood, chrome and rounded tables, you feel at once glamorous and nurtured.
All of the 80 rooms are distinctive, but we love the curved walls and alcoves of their 'more superior' rooms, where you can look out of your floor-to-ceiling windows from the double-end chaise lounge, down to Brighton's new Jubilee Square.
A crystal glows and pulses in changing colours of soft light around the central queen-size bed and you feel you are sleeping on a cloud. Plug in your MP3 player and you will have surround sound too. All of these touches are designed, they tell us, 'to balance your chi.' Other design elements of hotel are just plain cool - the soft leather, ergonomic desk becomes a vanity table as a curved mirror lifts from the worktop; you can watch TV through the lozenge-shaped window of the bathroom while you're brushing your teeth. Each room offers complimentary internet access, Aveda products, bathrobes, plasma-screen TVs and more.
Designed by New York designer Karim Rashid around the aesthetic concept of Andy Thrasyvoulou, founder and visionary of myhotels, there are many design promises: the Carousel penthouse suite promises to be very special, with its own Turkish hammam, and a 400-year-old vintage carousel centrepiece. Other art and design has been provided by a range of local artists, including Alex Macarthur, Martin Thomas and Lucien Hewetson.
