The friendly staff and excellent service also add to the winning formula as does the traditional interior décor. It's not hard to see why the hotel's highly acclaimed Dower House restaurant has earned its reputation. From the mouth-watering menu of well executed British classics and the extensive wine list to the impeccable service, this eaterie wins on all accounts. There's a delightful terrace looking out onto the lush surroundings - making it the perfect venue for a spot of afternoon tea in summer.

The Bath House spa is another star attraction. After all could be better than plunging into the 35 degree heated indoor pool on a crisp early morning or forgetting your troubles whilst you unwind in the hot tub, sauna or steam room? The spa also offers a range of signature treatments which use house-blended aromatherapy oils to revive the body and mind and there's also a fully-equipped gymnasium for those looking to get active.

Each of The Royal Crescent's 45 bedrooms and suites boasts an old-fashioned, yet luxurious style. Well proportioned rooms with high ceilings and large French windows give each room a light and airy feel, and there's all the modern gadgetry you would expect from any five-star establishment including flat-screen TV's,DVD players and powerful hairdryers. As for the interior design, antique furniture and 18th-century paintings combine to recreate the neo-classical feel whilst ensuite bathrooms ooze modernity with power showers and two sinks. Many rooms boast generously sized balconies which look onto the surrounding grounds. Quite simply, it's stunning.

The Press Say

"Look out over the gardens (ask for room 15, 16 or 38) or across the sward in front of the Crescent: neither view will disappoint."
The Telegraph 06

"The hotel is a classic, one of the first 'boutique' hotels, opened in the Eighties. The interior evokes exactly the right period setting from which to imbibe the spirit of Jane Austen." The Independent 08
