The Torridon boutique hotel in Achnasheen is set in 58 acres of private wood and parkland, at the foot of Ben Damph and on the shores of Upper Loch Torridon. This beautiful boutique hotel has been converted from a shooting lodge built for the first Earl of Lovelace in 1887, and still remains a grand place to stay.

The Torridon staff are friendly and attentive, and happy to arrange any activities you might want to try during your break. These include, but are not limited to: kayaking, rock climbing, guided glen walks, archery, clay pigeon shooting and mountain biking. Getting active lets you get the best out of the Highlands, and the boutique hotel is always there at the end of a busy day with log fires and comfy sofas waiting.

Feast on locally-sourced fish, shellfish, beef, lamb, vegetables and fruity desserts, and wash it down with something from the excellent wine list. If you're after a true taste of the highlands, head to the boutique hotel's whisky bar, which holds over 300 malt whiskies.

The rooms

The Torridon has 19 individually furnished en-suite bedrooms. Decor is all Scottish country house opulence without a hint of chintz. Some rooms have king sized, four-poster beds and great views of the Loch and mountains; others have beautiful Victoriana bathrooms with freestanding baths.

Modern comforts come in the form of satellite TV, internet access and DVD players, and goodies in the bathroom include Molton Brown toiletries and fluffty bathrobes.
