Review of Amanyara, by The TI Review Team

Taking your Caribbean idyll to a new level of cool is now possible, thanks to the foresight of one Adrian Zecha, founder of Aman resorts. On the shores of the Providenciales, boasting some of the most gorgeous beaches (and some of the best diving) in the Caribbean, this sleek new temple to the Aman ethos (pure pleasure at every turn, a seeming dozen staffers for every one of you) and aesthetic (spare and sleek, but clearly of the no-expense-spared variety) attracts the likes of Gisele Bundchen, Russell Crowe, and packs of those uberchic globetrotters who call themselves Aman junkies.

Hard to catalogue everything on offer here, from the sprawling, gunite infinity pool at shore's edge, to the open-air massage pavilions, to the local-timber-and-glass architecture throughout. One need never leave the grounds: the bar, restaurant, private screening room seating 30, Serenity Villa Spa (complete with treatment villas, plunge pools, and complimentary yoga every morning), and library (stocked with a deftly edited selection of art tomes and good fiction) provide for every need. The Beach Club, at on end of Amanyara's lovely white-sand beach, offers casual dining (healthy takes on Caesar salads and clubs, sashimi) and chairs under palapas for sunbathing.

Like some hybrid of a shinto temple and Calvin Klein's bedroom, each sleek, low-slung, white-on-wood pavilion or villa has private pool access and an overhanging roof, creating a shady terrace (in some cases, two of them). The floors are of polished hand-poured terrazzo, the king-sized beds are set low, the ceilings are high and pitched, the walls are entire of glass. There's a state of the art surround-sound entertainment unit (DVD, HDTY flat screen and Bose stereo). Bathrooms are separated (well, not really) from the main bedroom by a slatted wood screen. Freestanding bathtubs are complimented by long, low ottomans, to encourage socializing.
