Sirkeci Konak is an intimate boutique hotel in Istanbul. It puts service above all else and this has won it a loyal international following; staff are friendly, accommodating and completely first-rate. The hotel itself lies just inside the Old Town (approx a 10-minute walk to Sultanahmet), a beautiful Ottoman-style mansion house that overlooks Gulhane Park.

The facilities

The restaurant serves traditional Turkish cuisine, with a focus on seafood and fish. The hotel runs cookery classes twice a week, which come highly recommended. Every day at 5:00 pm, staff lay out a lovely afternoon tea spread of apple and traditional Turkish teas, plus moreish local breads, known as simit.

There's also an indoor swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi and gym, as well as a traditional Turkish bath. For business travellers, Sirkeci Konak has a meeting room (maximum 50 people) which is equipped with a projector, wifi, a sound system and large screen.

The rooms

Each of Sirkeci Konak's 54 bedrooms shares the same contemporary, clean-lined decor as the communal areas. Luxuriously appointed, they all have well-stocked minibars, air conditioning, complimentary wifi and pillow menus.
