Aleenta Spa and Resort, set 30 kilometres south of Hua Hin, has a minimalist mixture of architectural styles made for entertaining and outdoor living. Built as to host friends, and 'like-minded people', on a undeveloped stretch of beach, this boutique hotel was originally a family villa. The original beach villa is now the Frangipani wing of this boutique hotel and the newer Pranburi wing was opended in 2003.

The facilities

It is however, the personal touches that really make this boutique hotel a winner. Guests can eat anywhere they like in the grounds. Each room has a private balcony or terrace, and some a personal plunge pool. The spa is outdoors and overlooks the beach. There are a couple of bikes parked out the front for some local exploration and the three-kilometre beach is on the doorstep. This boutique hotel is a fantastic destination idea for two options out of Europe: take a relaxing Thailand stop-over on a long haul flight to the New World, or take a group for a private party.

The rooms

From some angles Aleenta looks Mexican, from others Mediterranean. The architect has taken ideas from Thailand, Spain and Australia and mixed them all up in a conscious effort to provide every comfort in the tropical climate. Windows in this boutique hotel's rooms open away to nothing, leaving guests bare in a open-fronted room, the sea breeze and the scent of jasmine billowing through the room. The sea views, and the minimal, natural furnishings, create an environment which seems to noticeably clear out your mind.

This boutique hotel's Pranburi wing features elegant bungalows for the utmost privacy and relaxation. Pool suites feature private verandas and plunge pools. Guests can reserve the ground floor or second floor of the Beach House, or reserve the entire building. The chic house features both front and rear balconies and a private rooftop sundeck. The circular-shaped penthouse at this boutique hotel has a stone tub and a truly panoramic view of the Gulf of Thailand. But true sun god and goddesses will only have eyes for the palms suite located directly on the beach.

The Frangipani wing of this boutique hotel includes the frangileela suites which have private sundecks, massive windows and direct access to the swimming pool. The exclusive chaba villa has all of the comforts of home in a breathtaking location. The villa has a living room, dining room, kitchen and personal housekeepers.
