Intrinsically Aleppon and named after the family who used to live here, Dar Zamaria, situated in the old Jedaideh district of Aleppo in Syria's northeast, is an old courtyard house that has been converted into a four star hotel. It opened as just one residence in 1997 but it has since grown having been connected to neighbouring ones.

Quaint, charming and quiet, the hotels location is just a quick hop step and jump to some of the city's main attractions, the souk and markets, most of which are centered around the nearby citadel. Grand arches, beautiful floors and divine surroundings make this one place where you can really sit back, switch off and soak up the atmosphere.

The facilities

Pretty and olde-worlde, everything about this hotel radiates tradition, simplicity and laid back charm. Striking archways, tiled floors and plants that drape from open windows set the scene whilst the 24 hour manned reception can assist with anything guests may need. Laze in a chair in the courtyard or find a small spot of shade under one of the covered patios. There are internet facilities, satellite television and room service.

The rooms

Formally private residential quarters, the hotel has 50 rooms, all with private bathrooms and air conditioning. Quintessentially Arabic, the décor fits in seamlessly with the surroundings. Beds sit within impressive arched enclaves in spacious rooms with antique furnishings and light fittings. Ornate tiles decorate floors and ornamental bed side lamps decorate the table and enhance the romance of the place.
