The Grand Hotel National is a luxury hotel that was built in the style of a French Renaissance castle. One of the finest and most magnificent hotels in the area, with its large and ornate construction, this five-star hotel sits within one kilometer of the old town of Lucerne and sixty kilometers from Zurich airport. Opened in 1870, this luxury hotel retains its sociability and grandeur.

The facilities

The in-house restaurant offers a la carte seasonal French and Swiss flavorings with a cozy, private atmosphere. For other palates, Asian infused dishes are served at the "Thai Lotus" restaurant and "Il Padrino" provides Italian cuisine with a selection of fine wines. Cocktails and cigars can be enjoyed at the bar of this luxury hotel.

Currently they have ninety-five rooms and suites for rent - the figure varies depending on how many long term residents booked. The rooms are light and elegant, with well-made retro furniture in cherry wood. Ceilings are high with grand paneled doors, of which give the rooms a feeling of classic solidity within this five-star hotel. Most rooms have balconies large enough to take breakfast on with views of the lake. The walls are decorated with original and well chosen art. Of the four floors in this luxury hotel (three to six), the third and fourth have recently been renovated in French Empire style, with marble floors, chandeliers, exquisite rugs, brass bedsteads and handmade silk paneled walls.
