La Reserve Geneve Hotel and Spa 5 Stars

"An opulent design hotel revamped by interiors maven Jacques Garcia with a chic spa, organic restaurant and landscaped grounds."

Hotel Overview

Review of La Reserve Geneve Hotel and Spa, by Mary Lussiana

La Réserve makes most five star hotels seem run of the mill. Inside you are met by a jungle of elephants, tigers, parrots as part of Jacque Garcia's African Safari theme. Terracotta tones mix with leopard spotted carpets but the whole is neither garish nor overpowering, just remarkably informal in conservative Switzerland, and refreshingly young.

La Réserve's stunning spa, with jellyfish lights to remember, is spread over 2,000 square metres, comprising 18 treatment rooms, an indoor pool, fitness centre, sauna and hammam. There is a bar and restaurant serving nutritious drinks and snacks within the spa.

The main restaurants are the French Le Roti and the much acclaimed Chinese Tsé Fung, as well as the Grill set in the garden.

The main restaurants are the French Le Roti and the much acclaimed Chinese Tsé Fung, as well as the Grill set in the garden.

Outside, there is a swimming pool and Le Petite Réserve for children - a wooden tree house complete with slides, bridges and stairs. Beyond that lies Lake Geneva and a private Venetian motoscafo to whisk you to Geneva's city centre.

Colonial in feel, handsome in style, these generously sized rooms offer satin finished sheets, goose down pillows and bathrooms which mix black granite and marble mosaic. All suites have balneotherapy. Soaps and shower gels are Le Reserve's own concoction - packaged with a trumpeting elephant.

Jacques Garcia's 2003 renovation has turned La Reserve into one of Geneva's most sophisticated luxury hotels. Ten acres of grounds and spectacular views of the lake and Mont Blanc mean that you'll be looking elsewhere most of the time during your stay.

Oh, the spa! La Reserve offers a huge range of treatments in 17 treatment rooms from aroma and hydrotherapy to Ayurvedic massages and hot stone treatments. There is also underwater music playing for certain treatments. A kids club will look after the little ones, so it's family friendly as well. If guests fancy a night on the town, why not try "Le Bar" downstairs? It's almost always humming with nightlife.

The rooms in La Reserve Geneve are dark and cosseting, each themed slightly differently. But the 'luxury' part of 'luxury hotel' is certainly proven with the flat screens, DVD players and DVD libraries found in each and every room. Inside, Garcia's African safari theme might seem out of kilter with the more sedate style of this part of Switzerland, but it has been executed with his usual flair, wit and attention to detail, and works magnificently. Details include a choice of pillows and sheets and complimentary minibar drinks.
