Lady Hamilton Hotel, Stockholm, Sweden
Lady Hamilton Hotel 4 Stars
"Kitsch and flirty, this feminine boutique hotel in Gamla Stan sits opposite the Royal Palace and is a firm Stockholm favourite."
Hotel Overview
A slice of historic heaven, this boutique hotel is family owned in the picturesque Old Town district of Stockholm. Romantic and intimate, this is a fairytale home-away-from-home hotel with charm and a very personal atmosphere combined with a great location. Right in the centre of Old Town, this boutique hotel has many sights to offer in the immediate area, like the Royal Palace.
The Lady Hamilton Hotel houses a cultural treasure in the basement where a very old well, dating back to the 1400's, is still in tact and used by guests who wish to take a cool dip. Named after the famous naval hero Lord Nelson's beloved mistress Lady Emma Hamilton, the hotel is enriched with the past-in a dramatisation of both Swedish and English history-and love, as the owners have been married for over fifty years.
The facilities
For the ultimate old-fashioned and charming dinning at this boutique hotel, head to The Bistro. Serving healthy and light dishes, this is a very personal home-style eatery. Afternoon tea is a very popular attraction for guests so reserve your table early. There is a house bar available to guests for beer and wine with light snacks until later evening. Decorated in a very traditional homey aesthetic, this boutique hotel is enchanting and artful in whimsical colours and antique patterns.
A sauna is available for private bookings for two hours for guests at a cheaper rate than non-guests. There is an open fireplace, music and whirlpool available for guests that want alone time to relax and enjoy the romance that this boutique hotel was founded on.
The rooms
There are thirty-four rooms decorated in Swedish folklore style at this boutique hotel. All rooms are named after a regional flower and they all feature a traditional painting as well as an antique rustic cupboard that contains an antique spirits bottle.
For women travelling alone, don't fret. This boutique hotel has an inventive way of making your stay personal and comforting. On the International Women's Day in 2007, this boutique hotel launched a new concept called Lady Rooms. These would be reserved for women who stay in single rooms and are offered a special room with "a little something extra". This 'something extra' is a basket of gifts and feminine items like face masks, chocolate, fresh fruit, magazine and comfortable bathrobe.
