Tarifa sits on the southernmost tip of Spain, looking out of the strait of Gibraltar. As such it's often used as a stop-over for those travelling too or from Africa, particularly Morocco. The town is a must-see in its own right, however, beautiful and historic it has a quiet charm all of its own. The Silos Arte y Relax is a proper boutique hideaway; just two guestrooms and a home-from-home atmosphere, it's a great base for exploring Tarifa.

The facilities

A great range of facilities here, considering its petite size. There's an organic restaurant on site, a billiard lounge, rooftop garden and an outdoor plunge pool. The on-site art gallery hosts two permanent exhibitions: one by Isabel H. De La OSA and another by Maximilian Pfalzgraf. The gallery also offers selected works of other artists such as sculptures by Manuel Mediavilla and Mireille Fombrun, and paintings by Juan Manuel Fernandez Pinedo.

The rooms

Silos Arte y Relax's two guestrooms are as eclectic in design as its communal areas (it's owned by a pair of artists after all). The 16th-century building has been meticulously restored, and the attention to detail shows throughout. The Loft is ultra-luxurious, with a marble bathroom, wooden flooring, Art Deco furnishings and private Jacuzzi bathtub. The Suite has two rooms and sitting room, so great for families.
