La Sacristia, a fully refurbished 17th-century Inn of the same name, has opened its doors in the historic centre of Tarifa. Famed for its gastronomy, which is recorded in documents of the period, the 300 year-old structure has been restored using original architectural elements.
Designers Miguel Arregui and Bosco Herrero have created this unique design hotel with the twenty first century in mind. New York stylist Joe Peguero is in charge of interior image and creation of innovative events.
The facilities
The heart of the design hotel is the interior patio with its ancient well, whispers of the past and select articles from the hotels stylish boutique scattered around the communal areas. Fine freshly-cooked meals using top quality local ingredients are also available.
Tarifa boasts some of the finest unspoilt beaches in Europe. Horse rides on the beach and riding excursions through the magnificent nature parks can be arranged by the design hotel’s concierge. Kite and windsurf instructors are close on hand for guests looking for more adventure. Unwind after a day at the beach with a therapeutic massage.
Day trips are another unique option for guests at this design hotel. Just 35 minutes away sits Tangiers. It is also one of the most significant ornithological areas in Europe. The Roman ruins of "Baelo Claudia" in Bolonia are nearby and there are daily boat trips to the Straits of Gibraltar for whale and dolphin watching.
The rooms
The design hotel has a uniquely relaxed atmosphere and consists of ten double rooms. All of these rooms are individually furnished to reflect the era, with the upper floor having a distinct oriental flavour. The rooms are a great place to unwind at the end of the day when guests want to be completely immersed in comfort.
