Hotel del Teatre is an intimate boutique hotel in the Catalonian region of Empordà. A lush rural landscape, it's blessed by a mild climate year-round, and is rich in quaint towns and picturesque villages. It also has a claim to fame as the one-time home of Salvador Dali. The hotel itself was formerly a muddle of farmhouses, but has now been transformed into a chic little hideaway in the village of Regencós.

The facilities

There's a real sense of a home-away-from-home here. The gourmet restaurant La Cuina del Teatre, is housed in what was the village theatre, serves elegant Mediterranean cuisine of the highest order. There's no bar or room service to speak of, but the food here is renowned in the area. A large garden and outdoor swimming pool is the perfect antidote to sweltering summer sunshine, and if the heat gets too much, there's a cool indoor reading-room on site too.

The rooms

Each of Hotel del Teatre seven rooms is a homage to classical architecture, with its clean lines, neutral tines and airy feel. Flat screen televisions, DVD players and a collection of over 400 CDs and DVDs ticks the 'mod-cons' checklist.
