Stylish and sleek, Grand Hotel Central has a privileged location in the heart of Barcelona, situated in the historic Gothic Quarter, next to the Cathedral. El Born, Barcelona’s most fashionable area with its designer shops, bars and restaurants scattered throughout its narrow streets and plazas, is right next door to the hotel while Las Ramblas, Plaza Cataluña and sea front are just minutes away. The hotel itself is definitely an urban oasis. Dating back to 1926, the building retains many of the classic elements of the original structure and combines a host of contemporary features and luxurious touches that create an atmosphere that is timeless and hip.

For further repose, visit the roof-top for a refreshing dip in the infinity-edge pool with spectacular views from your lounger on the terrace or indulge your taste in the Skybar. Fitness buffs will appreciate the state-of-the-art gym and do not forget to spoil your self with a relaxing massage in The Wellness Suite. Famed chef Ramon Freixa runs the Ávalon Restaurant & Café on the ground floor, giving you the ideal opportunity to appreciate imaginative fusion Mediterranean cuisine.

The Grand Hotel Central is a city-centre design hotel, just yards from Barcelona Cathedral. They've branded it 'grand' on the basis that it will become a Barcelona institution, echoing the days of the old railway station hotels, where dignified tourists from northern Europe would gravitate on their stately way south.
The hotel is certainly in a grand position, very centrally located. Its attraction is its crisp, minimalist modernity and its location on the edge of the Born. For those in search of a hard-edged, cool design hotel in a central location, the Central will fit the bill.
Apart from the small reception of Grand Hotel Central, there's a library and meeting room in the front and a quiet, chill-out lounge area at the back. The breakfast room is light and functional. The star attraction is the rooftop infinity pool, often photographed for magazines, with great cityscape views.
As the hotel was a purpose-built conversion, the 147 rooms are of a uniform and decent size. Double-glazed office windows give them a hermetically sealed, box-like feel, accentuated by the boxy beds and square chairs; nor is there much in the way of fabrics, just black out blinds without curtains.
Stripped wooden flooring and brown/beige walls without decoration give the Grand Hotel Central a minimalist feel. Bathrooms are a little more pampering, with designer toiletries.
