The five-star design Hotel Omm has gradually built up a faithful, fashion-forward following allowing the design hotel to become Barcelona’s hippest hangout. Style is paramount at Hotel Omm, which has garnered a bevy of design awards for its bold exterior and the cool Zen interior.
Catalan architect Juli Capella has created an über-modern and innovative building resembling the peeled-back pages of a book- this clever jigsaw allows maximum natural light into the design hotel. In the lobby large modernist murals complement the large space, which is lit by Oven lamps and backed up by subtle metallic light fixtures. Countering this comfort zone is a shiny scarlet solid Corian reception desk, where guests can hone in for a speedy check-in.
The facilities
You might spot A-list celebs such as Harrison Ford enjoying the design hotel’s Michelin-starred Costing Restaurant “Moo”, where head chef Felip Llufriu serves up a creative Catalan menu. Half-portion organic dishes such as monkfish with wild mushrooms or rose, lobster and liquorice curry are part of the “menú de degustación.” Assistant chefs Joan, Josep and Jordi Roca, famous for perfume-mimicking desserts, invite diners to experience their delicately scented fruit, cake, pastry or ice cream combos.
On the second-floor of the design hotel the “Spaciomm” Spa attracts a jet-set crowd, including visitors like Natalie Portman and Joan Branson. The spa has a large lucid hydro massage pool with reclined steel Jacuzzi chairs and Freixanet waterfalls – there is also a steam room, sauna, ice fountain and gravity room.
