Located in the pretty village of St James, Rodwell House is a five-star boutique hotel of just nine suites. An elegant mansion house built in the 1930s, it is now owned by art collector Robin von Holdt (who uses it in part to showcase his considerable collection of works by South African masters).

The facilities

Titanium Bistro serves Modern Mediterranean fare, accompanied by an award-winning wine list (the cellar holds more than 15,000 bottles of the world's finest). On the same floor, the formal drawing room now functions as the Cedar Tree Art Gallery. There's a fitness centre and a choice of spa treatments available, whilst the exterior of the property boasts manicured gardens and a lovely outdoor pool area.

The rooms

Each of Rodwell House's nine suites has been thoughtfully and luxuriously appointed. Most have balconies or terraces that spill out onto the garden, and all come complete with large flat screen televisions, air conditioning, underfloor heating in the bathrooms and spacious free-standing showers.
